CBD is one of the newest and most important products in the Western World, with over 1000 new users every month trying it. The amount of people using CBD oil, paste or capsules has doubled in the last year. However, there is also much confusion about what it actually does, how to use it, herb–prescription drug interactions, and the difference between the different products. Complementary practitioners are not trained in the benefits or contraindications of cannabis when used medically.

There is a paucity of knowledge, information and guidance about this new product, with a plethora of “internet help forums” springing up and many manufacturers of “CBD oil” products trying to get onto the bandwagon – often with products of dubious quality and vague ingredients.

The CBD Handbook aims to fill that gap with an accessible guide that includes a history and overview of CBD and cannabis, what conditions they can help with, a detailed look at cannabinoids, THC, enodcannabinoids and the endocannabinoid system, the different types of cannabis, the phytochemistry of cannabis, other herbs to use with CBD and cannabis, legal issues, case histories and issues around clinical use.

About the Author(s)

Karin Mallion is degree qualified medical herbalist, having owned and managed three health stores, one of which specialised in cannabidiol therapy, whilst simultaneously running a successful herbal medicine practice. Karin’s interest in cannabis and its phytochemical components began when patients began to report significant improvements in health issues. Subsequently she studied, researched and wrote a seminar for complementary and alternative medicine practitioners to aid them in the use of this herb, which has rapidly become one of the most popular and publicised herbs in recent years.
