Dr Graeme Tobyn PhD FHEA, Senior lecturer, School of Community Health & Midwifery, University of Central Lancashire on 29/04/2021

Stephen Taylor has successfully reshaped the legacy of Culpeper and others into both a practical and accessible contemporary manual and a traditional medicine exemplar for those familiar with plant healing to compare approaches. Half the book comprises herbal monographs and a formulary largely composed of native plants, the other supplies the humoral theory, a head-and-heart practice of Western Herbal Medicine and the stories of those healing herbs, supported by case vignettes and recommended mixtures. Wearing his learning lightly, Stephen deftly integrates pulse and tongue diagnosis into traditional herbal knowledge and connects to astrological symbolism, plant spirit medicine and dream interpretation.

Dylan Warren-Davis, medical herbalist, author of The Hand Reveals on 29/04/2021

This is an excellent herbal and is invaluable for students of the Western herbal tradition. Stephen has taken the principles of elemental and humoral physiology and expanded and d them for the 21st century. Drawing from the wisdom in Nicholas Culpeper's writings and translations, he has presented the knowledge in an accessible and contemporary way. It also contains chapters on pulse and tongue diagnosis - important topics that are often neglected in other herbal works.

John Michael Greer, Past Grand Archdruid of the Ancient Order of Druids in America on 27/04/2021

Stephen Taylor's The Humoral Herbal is a first-rate practical introduction to the humours as a guide to herbal healing. Not to be missed!
